The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) is a government department in the UK that aims to reduce carbon emissions by promoting the use of electric vehicles. One of the ways they do this is by offering a grant for the installation of electric vehicle charging points. The OZEV grant, previously known as the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS), offers up to £350 towards the cost of installing a home charging point for electric vehicles.
To be eligible for the OZEV grant, you must meet certain criteria. Firstly, you must have purchased or leased an eligible electric vehicle that is listed on the OZEV vehicle list. Secondly, you must have off-street parking, such as a driveway or garage, where you can install the charging point. Finally, you must use an OZEV-approved installer for the installation of the charging point. The grant is available to both homeowners and leaseholders, but not to tenants or those who do not have off-street parking.
As of April 2022, the grant changed eligibility criteria and is subject to change by government policy at any time. Before making a purchase we recommend checking the government website below and also confirming with your installer that you are grant eligible.

To claim the OZEV Grant, you must first select an OZEV-approved home charging unit and have it installed by a qualified installer. You can then apply for the grant online through the government’s official OZEV Grant portal.
Once your application has been approved, you will receive a voucher code that you can use to claim your discount from your chosen installer. The voucher code is valid for 180 days from the date of issue, so it’s important to make sure you have your charging unit installed within this timeframe.
It’s worth noting that the OZEV Grant is subject to change, and the amount of funding available may vary depending on government policy. As of March 2023, the grant offers up to £350 off the cost of purchasing and installing a home charging unit, but this may change in the future.
The OZEV Grant is available for individuals who own, lease or have use of an eligible electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle. To be eligible, the vehicle must meet the following criteria:
It must be new and have CO2 emissions of less than 50g/km
It must be on the list of eligible vehicles published by the government
In addition to vehicle eligibility, there are also driver eligibility requirements that must be met in order to qualify for the OZEV Grant. The following conditions must be met:
The driver must live in a rental property or own a flat
The driver must have dedicated off-street parking
The driver must not have already claimed the grant for their vehicle
It’s important to note that the OZEV Grant is administered by the Office for Zero Emissions Vehicles (OZEV) and is commonly known as the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS). It offers up to £350 towards the cost of installing a home EV charger.

As not everyone is eligible for the grant or owns an eligible vehicle, we show prices excluding the OZEV grant scheme discount. This means you wont be surprised when you come to place an order at any of the installers.
You can, however, still claim the grant so you can save £350 on top of finding the cheapest installation prices from our comparisons pages.
