Tesla software update: what the latest version adds (November 2026)
Tesla began pushing 2026.38.6 to UK cars on 29 October. It brings Halloween Mode, sharper car graphics and Set Arrival Energy, while the headline FSD and Supercharger features stay in North America for now.
Quick answers

The latest Tesla software update for UK cars is 2026.38.6, which began rolling out on 29 October 2026. It brings Halloween Mode, sharper car graphics on the touchscreen and Set Arrival Energy from the app, but the FSD and Emergency Drive Away features that dominate US coverage do not apply in Britain.
We update this page each month as Tesla’s releases reach UK cars. The detail below comes from the release notes logged by owner trackers, because Tesla does not publish a public changelog for each version.
What is the latest Tesla software update in the UK?
The latest version is 2026.38.6. On the evening of 29 October, European cars without FSD began moving to it from 2026.38.3.2. Of the last 100 installs TeslaFi logged that evening, 58 were 2026.38.6 and 56 of those were in Europe, led by Germany with 15 and the UK with 13 (TeslAnt). Not a Tesla App put the related 2026.38.6.1 build on 0.9% of its tracked fleet on the same day.
European cars that have FSD (Supervised) are on a separate branch, 2026.39.6, which carries FSD 14.2.2.6. That matters little in the UK, where the supervised system is not approved; our guide to Tesla Autopilot and FSD in the UK explains what British cars can use.
| Version | First seen | Who gets it | Main additions |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026.38 | 30 September 2026 | Early batch, worldwide | Visual Updates, Dynamic Headlight Leveling, Supercharger Site Maps |
| 2026.38.3.1 | 8 October 2026 | Worldwide | Halloween Mode, Set Arrival Energy, Emergency Drive Away (US only) |
| 2026.38.5.11 | 24 October 2026 | North America, FSD cars | FSD v14.3.13 (HW4), FSD v14.3 Lite (HW3) |
| 2026.38.6 | 29 October 2026 | Non-FSD cars, including the UK | Same notes as 2026.38.3.2, plus security fixes |
| 2026.39.6 | 29 October 2026 | European FSD cars | Halloween Mode, Site Maps; FSD stays on 14.2.2.6 |
What does Tesla update 2026.38.6 add?
The 2026.38.6 notes repeat the seven entries from 2026.38.3.2, so a UK car already on that version gains security fixes rather than new documented features. A car coming from an older release picks up the whole 2026.38 package:
- Halloween Mode. A ghost costume for the on-screen car, a Trick or Treat Mode with sounds and flickering lights, scheduled light shows and a photo booth. The full version needs the AMD Ryzen media computer; Intel cars get only the Halloween wraps and number plates (Not a Tesla App).
- Visual Updates. Higher-quality images of your car and a better park scene on the centre display, for Model 3 and Model Y with AMD or HW3.
- Set Arrival Energy. Enter a destination in the Tesla app’s location tab and set how much battery you want left when you arrive. It needs app version 4.58.0 or later.
- Dynamic Headlight Leveling. The low beams adjust their aim to traffic and conditions to cut glare. It applies to specific Model 3 cars and the Cybertruck, and in the US it is tied to recall 26V507 covering 19,900 Model 3 and Model Y cars (Tesla Oracle).
- Grok leaves beta. The beta label has gone from the in-car assistant across all models. Grok reached UK cars with 2026.2.6 in February 2026 and uses Premium Connectivity at £9.99 a month, or Wi-Fi.
- Service Mode changes. A quick language switch and isolation readings on the high voltage panel, which matter mainly to technicians.
What does Set Arrival Energy cost you?
The feature itself is free, but the buffer you set has to be paid for in electricity. A higher target means more charging before or during the trip.
Our number: each extra 10 kWh of arrival buffer costs £7.90 at a public rapid charger and 80p at home. Method: 10 kWh × 79p/kWh (Zapmap September 2026 rapid average) = £7.90; 10 kWh × 8p/kWh (Intelligent Octopus Go off-peak) = £0.80.
So a generous arrival target is cheap if you leave home full and costly if it forces a longer stop on the motorway. Our guide to the cost of charging a Tesla in the UK sets out the full per-mile figures.
Which features in the latest update don’t work in the UK?
Three of the most talked-about additions do not reach British owners in a usable form:
- Emergency Drive Away lets you shift into Drive with a Supercharger cable still plugged in. It is listed for US Superchargers only. Tesla warns it will damage the car and the charger, that the owner may pay for repairs, and that short camera clips are sent to Tesla when it is used.
- FSD (Supervised) v14.3.13 reached North American HW4 cars in 2026.38.5.11 from 24 October, with Automatic Collision Evasion and a new SLOTH speed profile (Tesla Oracle). Europe’s approved FSD cars have stayed on v14.2.2.6 since 24 August, and Tesla now markets the system in Europe as Tesla Assisted Driving; see why Tesla dropped the FSD name. It is not legal to use the supervised system in Great Britain.
- Supercharger Site Maps, which show the bay layout and live occupancy on arrival, only work at pilot sites. In September Europe had two, both in Belgium, and no UK pilot has been reported. Our Supercharger prices guide covers what UK sites charge.
Are there any known problems with the latest update?
Some owners reported third-party vehicle-to-load adapters cutting out on 2026.38.5, the North American FSD branch. No European owner had reported the fault on 2026.38.6 or 2026.39.6 by 29 October. If you rely on a V2L adapter for camping or work, it is worth checking owner forums once the update lands, because Tesla updates cannot be rolled back.
How do I get the latest Tesla update?
Tesla releases updates in batches, starting with a small share of cars and widening over days or weeks, so a neighbour’s car can have a version before yours. Keeping the car connected to home Wi-Fi helps it download promptly, and choosing the Advanced setting in the Software menu asks for new versions as soon as they are available for your car. What is coming next?
Tesla has not announced its 2026 Holiday Update. Wider deployment of the 2026.38 builds across the UK fleet is the near-term step, and items listed as upcoming in the North American v14.3.13 notes, such as pothole avoidance, apply to FSD and have no European date (Switch to Tesla). We will add the next UK release here once it starts reaching British cars.
How we test and where our numbers come from
Range figures are official WLTP combined values taken from manufacturer UK specification pages, with real-world estimates drawn from independent comparative testing. Prices are UK list prices at the time of the latest update. Tax, grant and charging-scheme figures come from GOV.UK and HMRC publications. We re-check every guide when pricing, specification or policy changes. Last checked 1 November 2026. How we work out our own figures.
Frequently asked questions
What is the latest Tesla software update in the UK?
The latest Tesla software update for UK cars is 2026.38.6, which began rolling out on 29 October 2026. It replaces 2026.38.3.2 on cars without FSD. TeslaFi data showed 13 UK cars among the first 56 European installs, so most owners will see it over the coming weeks.
What does Tesla update 2026.38.6 add?
Tesla update 2026.38.6 adds Halloween Mode, higher-quality images of the car on the centre screen, Dynamic Headlight Leveling on specific vehicles, Set Arrival Energy from the phone app and security fixes. Its release notes repeat the entries from 2026.38.3.2, so cars already on that version gain no newly documented features.
Can UK Teslas use Emergency Drive Away?
No, Emergency Drive Away is listed for US Superchargers only. The feature lets a driver shift into Drive with a Supercharger cable still connected, and Tesla warns it will damage the car and the charger and that the owner may pay for repairs.
Does the latest Tesla update bring FSD to the UK?
No, the latest update does not bring FSD (Supervised) to the UK, where it is not approved. European FSD is approved in ten EU countries and those cars run v14.2.2.6, while North American cars run v14.3.13.
Do older Teslas get Halloween Mode?
Older Teslas with the Intel media computer get only the Halloween wraps and number plates. The full Halloween Mode, with the ghost costume, Trick or Treat Mode and light shows, needs a car with the AMD Ryzen computer.
Do I need Premium Connectivity for the latest Tesla update?
No, software updates install without a Premium Connectivity subscription. Grok, which lost its beta label in the 2026.38 branch, uses Premium Connectivity at £9.99 a month in the UK, though it also works over Wi-Fi.
