The facelifted Q4 e-tron adds range, faster charging and Audi's first bidirectional charging. With the A2 e-tron priced about £14,000 lower, which compact Audi EV makes more sense?
Quick answers
- The updated Audi Q4 e-tron SUV costs from £46,260 on the road, and the Sportback from £48,160, a £1,900 premium.
- Range rises to up to 360 miles, with the 82kWh Performance Sport rated at 359 miles as an SUV and 367 as a Sportback.
- The Q4 is the first Audi to support bidirectional charging, supplying up to 2.3kW through a household-type socket in the boot.
- The quattro Performance models charge at up to 185kW, 10kW more than before, with 10 to 80% in about 27 minutes on some variants.
- The Audi A2 e-tron starts at £32,200, roughly £14,000 below the Q4, but UK deliveries are not due until early 2027.
Audi has put the updated Q4 e-tron on sale in the UK from £46,260 on the road, with a claimed range of up to 360 miles and, for the first time on an Audi, bidirectional charging. The price matters because the smaller Audi A2 e-tron now starts about £14,000 lower, which gives UK buyers a real choice within the brand.
What does the updated Q4 e-tron cost?
Prices start at £46,260 on the road for the SUV and £48,160 for the Sportback, according to Electric Cars Report. EV Powered describes the new entry price as cheaper than before.
| Model | UK price (on the road) |

| Q4 e-tron Sportback, entry | £48,160 |

These are list prices before options. The Q4 e-tron sits above the price band for the Electric Car Grant, so none of these figures include it. Our Electric Car Grant guide explains the cap.
Which battery, motor and range do you get?
Audi offers two gross battery sizes, 63kWh and 82kWh, according to EVKX. The entry car uses a 204PS motor, the Performance pairs the larger battery with 286PS, and the Performance quattro has a 340PS twin-motor set-up.
Range reaches up to 360 miles. The Performance Sport is rated at 359 miles as an SUV and 367 miles as a Sportback. Check our long-range electric SUVs ranking to see where that sits.
How fast does it charge?
On the quattro Performance SUV and Sportback, maximum charging power rises by 10kW to 185kW, and some variants take the battery from 10 to 80% in about 27 minutes (EVKX). Not every trim gets the higher rate, so check the specification of the one you order.
What does bidirectional charging add?
The Q4 e-tron is Audi’s first model with bidirectional charging. It supports vehicle-to-load, and can supply up to 2.3kW through a household-type socket in the boot. That is enough for tools or a laptop, not a whole house. Audi’s vehicle-to-home function was reported for Germany, Austria and Switzerland only, so we have not found it confirmed for the UK. Our explainer on bidirectional charging covers what home use needs, and the V2G and V2H guide covers the tariffs.
Q4 e-tron or A2 e-tron?
The A2 e-tron is priced from £32,200 on the road with up to 397 miles of WLTP range and charging at up to 183kW, but UK orders open in October 2026 and first deliveries come in early 2027 (Electric Cars Report). The Q4 is the bigger SUV and available now. If you need space and a car this year, the Q4 is the one. If you can wait and want to spend less, the A2 is the better value on paper. How the trims stack up
Within the Q4 range, the clearest step is the move from the 63kWh entry car to the 82kWh Performance. It adds £4,700 over the entry SUV (£50,960 against £46,260), and brings the 286PS motor and the 359-mile rating. Going to quattro Performance adds a further £5,000 (£55,960), for the 340PS twin-motor car and the 185kW charging rate. The Sportback adds £1,900 at entry and is rated at 367 miles against 359 for the SUV on the Performance Sport, so it is the longer-range body as well as the more expensive one.
For many drivers the Performance Sport is the sensible middle: it carries the larger battery without the quattro premium. If you do few long trips, the entry car saves £4,700.
What this means for you
Entry buyers get the best deal: £46,260 for the 63kWh SUV, with the Sportback £1,900 more. Choose the 82kWh Performance if range matters, since it carries the 359 and 367 mile ratings. Only pay for quattro if you want the 340PS and 185kW charging. Bidirectional charging is a bonus for tools and camping, not a reason to buy. If you are not in a hurry, compare the A2 e-tron’s price once its UK trims are confirmed.
How we test and where our numbers come from

Prices are UK list prices at the time of the latest update. Tax, grant and charging-scheme figures come from GOV.UK and HMRC publications.
