Tesla referral codes and discounts: what UK buyers can get

A Tesla referral code gets a new UK Model 3 or Model Y buyer 650 miles of free Supercharging, which we work out at about £114 on a Model Y. It takes nothing off the price, and Tesla’s £3,000 trade-in bonus and 0% finance, both running to 31 December 2026, are worth far more.

Referral codes are the first thing many Tesla buyers search for, because there is no dealer to haggle with. This guide sets out what a referral actually gives you in November 2026, what it is worth in pounds, and which other Tesla discounts matter more. Prices are Tesla UK list prices in November 2026, as reported by EV Industry News: £37,990 for the Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive and £44,990 for the Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive.

What does a Tesla referral code give you in the UK?

It gives you free Supercharging miles, not a discount. Referral sites listed 650 free Supercharging miles for both the Model 3 and the Model Y in October 2026 (Tesla Referral Codes UK, updated 19 October), and a buyer quoting Tesla’s terms on LivinintheUK on 11 October gave the same figure.

The key rules, from those sources:

• New cars only. The benefit covers new Model 3 and Model Y orders. Certified Pre-Owned cars are excluded.
• Apply it before you order. Open the referral link before you configure the car, or give the code to the advisor in a Tesla store. It cannot be added after the order is placed. LivinintheUK advises checking that the order page shows “Referral Applied” before paying.
• Miles arrive after delivery. The credit is added to your Tesla account once you take the car.
• It expires. The miles generally lapse 12 months after they are granted.
• Model S and Model X are out. Referral sites report that both lost their UK referral benefit in June 2026.

The price is identical with or without a code. Tesla sells at fixed prices, so a referral link never lowers what you pay or what you finance.

How much is 650 miles of Supercharging worth?

About £114 in a Model Y and £98 in a Model 3, if those miles would otherwise have been paid for at a Supercharger. That is EV Compared’s own figure.

Method: 650 miles x EV Database’s real-world consumption (255 Wh/mi for the Model Y RWD, 218 Wh/mi for the Model 3 RWD) x Zapmap’s 69p/kWh Tesla price, rounded to the nearest pound.

The real value depends on where you would have charged those miles. Most Tesla owners charge at home, and on a cheap overnight tariff the same miles cost very little:

So for a driver who charges overnight at home and rarely visits a Supercharger, the referral is really worth about £13. As a share of the car’s price, the referral is small: £114 is about 0.25% of a £44,990 Model Y.

What does the person who referred you get?

The referrer earns a reward in their Tesla account after you take delivery. The UK Tesla Referral says referrer credit is capped at 10 referrals per calendar year, and the reward is shown in the referrer’s Tesla app rather than published on a fixed tariff. It costs the buyer nothing.

What other Tesla discounts can UK buyers get?

Two Tesla offers are worth far more than a referral, and both apply to the cheapest version of each car.

The £3,000 trade-in bonus. Tesla’s trade-in terms give £3,000 on new and new inventory Model 3 and Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive cars ordered between 1 October and 31 December 2026, with delivery by 31 March 2027. The bonus comes off the price of the new car, on top of whatever Tesla offers for your old one. Your trade-in needs at least 30 days of MOT left after handover, and Certified Pre-Owned Teslas are excluded. HotUKDeals lists the £37,990 Model 3 with the bonus. On a Model Y, £3,000 is about 26 times the value of the referral credit at Supercharger prices.

0% APR on PCP. Tesla’s representative examples put the Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive at £299 a month and the Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive at £349 a month, both at 0% APR over 48 months. In our Tesla finance guide we calculated that the 0% rate saves roughly £10,800 in interest on a Model Y with a 10% deposit, compared with a typical 8.9% broker rate. That makes it the most valuable Tesla offer on the table if you were going to finance anyway.

Can you combine a referral with Tesla’s other offers?

The referral sits alongside the price offers because it is a charging credit, not a price cut, and it does not change the amount you pay or borrow. The terms we could see do not say whether the £3,000 trade-in bonus and the 0% finance can both be applied to one order. Before you pay, ask Tesla to show the referral, the trade-in bonus and the finance rate together on the order summary, so you know exactly what you are getting.

The two price offers also steer you towards the Rear-Wheel Drive cars. A £49,990 Model Y Premium Long Range RWD gets the referral miles but neither the trade-in bonus nor the 0% rate, so its real gap to the £44,990 Rear-Wheel Drive is much bigger than £5,000. Is the Tesla referral programme ending?

It has already ended for cars in the US. Electrek reported on 30 October 2026 that Tesla’s US Refer and Earn terms no longer list any vehicle as a qualifying purchase. US owners now earn a free month of Full Self-Driving (Supervised), or a $99 credit, when someone they refer starts paying for a subscription. Electrek’s report covers the US only, and UK referral sites were still showing the 650-mile benefit in October 2026.

Tesla has cut referrals before. Electrek’s history of the programme records Tesla ending it in 2019 because of cost, dropping vehicle referrals in September 2021, and announcing a worldwide shutdown in April 2024 before bringing it back that August. When it returned in March 2019, it offered 1,000 free Supercharging miles; the UK offer is now 650. If you are ordering a Tesla anyway, it costs nothing to use a referral link, but do not let it decide when you buy.

What should you do before you order?

1. Pick the version first. The trade-in bonus and 0% finance only apply to the Model 3 and Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive, and they are worth thousands; the referral is worth around £100.
2. Open a referral link before you configure. It cannot be added later, and confirm the order page shows it has been applied.
3. Plan to use the miles within 12 months. They are worth most on long trips where you would pay Supercharger prices.
4. Get your trade-in valued. The £3,000 bonus only applies if you trade in a car, and it needs at least 30 days of MOT after handover.
5. Order by 31 December 2026. Both price offers need an order by then and delivery by 31 March 2027. Current list prices are on our Tesla UK prices page.
