BYD Approved Repair Network UK: 138 Vizion bodyshops now live
BYD has opened a UK-wide network of 138 approved bodyshops with Vizion Network, covering its electric cars and DM-i plug-in hybrids. Here is what it offers, what it does not yet tell you, and how to find your nearest repairer.
Quick answers
- BYD and Vizion Network have launched 138 approved bodyshops across the UK, live from 8 September 2026.
- Each site uses BYD-trained technicians, genuine BYD parts and BYD-specified repair methods.
- The network covers fully electric BYD models and DM-i plug-in hybrids, and you find a repairer through an online postcode search.
- It sits alongside a six-year (or 150,000km) warranty and four years of free roadside assistance, and BYD is also working with Thatcham Research on repairability under a 12-month agreement from 1 January 2026.
- The launch coverage we found gives no repair-time targets or insurance premium figures, so check both before you buy.
BYD has launched an approved repair network of 138 UK bodyshops, developed with Vizion Network and live from 8 September 2026 (AM Online). For anyone weighing a BYD against an established brand, crash repair is a common worry, and this gives BYD owners a manufacturer-backed place to take a damaged car.
The launch is about standards and access. It does not, in the coverage we found, set repair-time targets or promise cheaper insurance, so those questions are still worth asking before you sign.
What BYD has actually launched
Each approved site uses technicians trained in BYD repair processes, genuine BYD parts and BYD-specified repair methods (The EV Report). The network covers fully electric BYD models and the DM-i plug-in hybrids (electrive).
You find your nearest repairer by entering a postcode into the network’s online search tool. BYD presents the network as part of its ownership package, alongside a six-year (or 150,000km) warranty, maintenance support and four years of free roadside assistance. The warranty and roadside cover are separate from the repair network and apply to the car, not to bodyshop work.

Why crash repair matters for BYD owners
A car that cannot be repaired quickly or cheaply costs you twice: in lost use and, eventually, in higher premiums. Newer brands have had to prove they can keep cars on the road after a claim, and a trained, approved network is the standard answer from established makers.
BYD is also working on the design side. A 12-month agreement with Thatcham Research, effective from 1 January 2026, covers repair-friendly design, aimed at supporting affordable insurance and a lower total cost of ownership (EV Fleet World). Thatcham will advise on repair methods and training to support BYD’s investment in approved repair networks.
Repair delays are the cost owners notice first, so it is worth asking any bodyshop for a written estimate of parts lead times before authorising work.
What it means for insurance and resale
Neither effect is quantified yet. The launch coverage gives no figures for repair times, and no premium changes. An approved network can make your insurer more comfortable with a brand, but whether it uses these sites depends on its own repair arrangements. Our guide to the true cost of EV insurance explains what drives premiums, and the list of cheapest electric cars to insure shows how models compare.
On resale, buyers of used cars generally want evidence that damage was repaired properly. A repair record from an approved BYD site, using genuine parts, is easier to defend than one from an unknown garage, though no source we found puts a value on it.
How BYD compares with the status quo
Most established brands already run approved bodyshop schemes, so BYD is catching up rather than leading. The value for you is practical: a defined route for repairs of BYD’s own electric and hybrid systems, across 138 sites rather than a handful of dealers. For the full range your repairer may handle, see BYD’s full model range and prices, and for the wider picture of newer brands, who the Chinese EV brands are.
What this means for you
If you own or are considering a BYD, do three things.
- Enter your postcode in the search tool and see how close the nearest approved repairer is.
- Ask your insurer whether it will send a BYD to an approved site, and whether that affects your quote.
- Keep your repair paperwork. Genuine parts and BYD-specified methods are worth proving when you sell.
Because the network spans both electric and DM-i models, the same repairer network applies whichever BYD you choose, which keeps things simple for households running more than one. The network lowers one of the genuine risks of buying a newer brand. It does not remove the need to compare insurance quotes, which remain the real test of how a model is treated after a claim.
How we test and where our numbers come from
Range figures are official WLTP combined values taken from manufacturer UK specification pages, with real-world estimates drawn from independent comparative testing. Prices are UK list prices at the time of the latest update. Tax, grant and charging-scheme figures come from GOV.UK and HMRC publications. We re-check every guide when pricing, specification or policy changes. Last checked 6 October 2026.
