  • It costs £47,995 on the road in a single Excellence AWD specification.
  • A 35.6kWh Blade Battery gives up to 74 miles of electric-only range, and the system produces 402bhp.
  • Boot space is 126 litres with seven seats up, 970 litres with the third row folded and 1,830 litres with both rear rows stowed.
  • It sits below the £51,980 Skoda Peaq, but the Electric Car Grant does not apply to it.

The BYD Ti 7 is a seven-seat plug-in hybrid SUV, not a pure EV, and it costs £47,995 on the road in the UK (Electric Cars Report). A 35.6kWh battery gives up to 74 miles of electric range, with a petrol engine behind it. Orders are open and customer deliveries start in January 2027, which matters if you need three rows but are not ready to go fully electric.

What does the BYD Ti 7 cost and what do you get?

The Ti 7 comes in one specification, Excellence AWD, so there is no trim ladder to climb (The EV Report). It is the first UK BYD to use the DM-p (Dual Mode performance) powertrain.

How practical is it as a seven-seater?

Boot space is 126 litres with all seven seats in use, 970 litres with the third row folded and 1,830 litres with both rear rows stowed. That 126 litres is shallow, so with seven aboard you would struggle to fit more than a few soft bags. Many seven-seaters share that limit, so it is worth seeing the third row and boot in person.

Auto Express framed the Ti 7 as offering plug-in hybrid power for around £25,000 less than a plug-in Land Rover Defender, a comparison BYD’s boxy styling invites.

How does it compare with seven-seat EVs?

CarPowertrainStarting UK price
BYD Ti 7Plug-in hybrid£47,995
Skoda PeaqFully electric£51,980

The Ti 7 is £3,985 cheaper than the Peaq. The Peaq’s page lists up to 390 miles of WLTP range, which a plug-in hybrid with a petrol engine cannot match on electricity alone. Our seven-seat electric cars guide covers the full-electric field.

Does the Electric Car Grant apply?

No. The grant covers zero-emission cars up to £37,000 (Band 1, £3,750) or £42,000 (Band 2, £1,500), and the Ti 7 is a plug-in hybrid at £47,995. The price above is the full list price, with no grant deducted. Our Electric Car Grant guide explains the rules.

Is a plug-in hybrid the right choice?

Up to 74 miles of electric range could cover a lot of school runs and commutes without petrol, if you can plug in at home. Charge it rarely and the 402bhp petrol engine and heavy battery will use more fuel than a conventional hybrid. Our electric versus hybrid comparison sets out the trade-off, and BYD’s smaller Dolphin G DM-i plug-in hybrid takes the same approach at £23,990. For the rest of the line-up, see our BYD range and prices guide.

What this means for you

If you need seven seats, can charge at home and want to avoid a £51,980-plus electric price, the Ti 7 is worth a test drive when it reaches showrooms in November. If most of your mileage is long motorway trips, or you want the lowest running costs, a full EV such as the Peaq is the better fit. Do not budget for a grant, and plan on January 2027 for delivery.

How we test and where our numbers come from

Range figures are official WLTP combined values taken from manufacturer UK specification pages, with real-world estimates drawn from independent comparative testing. Prices are UK list prices at the time of the latest update. Tax, grant and charging-scheme figures come from GOV.UK and HMRC publications. We re-check every guide when pricing, specification or policy changes. Last checked 6 October 2026.
