Mazda CX-6e UK price from £42,990 with 300-mile range
Mazda's Changan-built electric SUV costs from £42,990 for the Takumi and £45,350 for the Takumi Plus, with a 26-inch screen and a 78kWh battery. Neither trim is expected to get the Electric Car Grant.
Quick answers
- The Mazda CX-6e is priced from £42,990 for the Takumi and £45,350 for the Takumi Plus, with UK arrival expected in late 2026.
- Every CX-6e has a 78kWh LFP battery, a 258PS rear motor and a claimed range of up to 300 miles WLTP (about 290 miles on the 21-inch Takumi Plus), with 200kW DC charging taking 10 to 80% in 24 minutes.
- The CX-6e is assembled in China and costs more than £42,000, so buyers should not expect the Electric Car Grant.
- Auto Express says the Kia EV5 offers 329 miles and mid-range Skoda Enyaq versions up to 360 miles, so the CX-6e trails on range.
Mazda has priced its CX-6e electric SUV from £42,990 in the UK, with a 78kWh battery, up to 300 miles of claimed range and a 26-inch display. It is built in China and costs more than £42,000, so do not expect an Electric Car Grant, and the car faces rivals that offer more range for similar money.
Mazda announced UK prices on 1 September 2026 (Motor Trader), and the car arrives in late 2026, so it is not yet on sale. It is the product of a tie-up with Changan, built on Changan’s EPA1 platform in Nanjing. Changan’s own premium EV brand is covered in our Avatr UK launch report.
What does the Mazda CX-6e cost?
There are two trims. Every car has the same battery and motor, so the choice is about equipment (The EV Report).
| Trim | Price (no grant) | Wheels | Extras over Takumi |
|---|---|---|---|
| Takumi | £42,990 | 19-inch (21-inch £1,000 option) | n/a |
| Takumi Plus | £45,350 | 21-inch | Digital exterior mirrors, digital rear-view mirror, translucent interior styling bar, heated and ventilated outer rear seats |
The £2,360 step up buys mainly rear-seat comfort and the camera mirrors. Both trims include heated and ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (Auto Express). If you want 21-inch wheels only, the Takumi with the £1,000 option costs £43,990, which is £1,360 less than the Takumi Plus.
What is the range and how fast does it charge?
The 78kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery feeds a single 258PS rear motor, giving 0 to 62mph in 7.9 seconds and a 115mph top speed (Electrifying). Mazda quotes up to 300 miles WLTP for the Takumi, and about 290 miles for the Takumi Plus with its larger wheels. DC charging peaks at 200kW, with 10 to 80% in 24 minutes, and 11kW AC charging suits a home wallbox.
LFP batteries tolerate frequent full charges well, which suits owners who charge at home. The headline range is the weak spot. Auto Express says the Kia EV5 offers 329 miles and mid-range Skoda Enyaq versions up to 360 miles, and its review headline is that the Mazda trails rivals on range and charging.
Does the CX-6e get the Electric Car Grant?
Almost certainly not. The CX-6e is assembled by Changan Mazda in Nanjing, and Transport Minister Lilian Greenwood has said she does not expect any car assembled in China to be eligible, because the grant scores production emissions. Separately, the final price of an eligible car, options included, must not exceed £42,000 (AM Online), and the Takumi at £42,990 is £990 over that before options. We have not seen the Mazda on the eligible list. Our Electric Car Grant eligible models list and guide to who qualifies set out the rules.
How does it compare with rivals?
| Model | Range claim | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Mazda CX-6e | Up to 300 miles | Mazda, via The EV Report |
| Kia EV5 | 329 miles | Auto Express |
| Skoda Enyaq (mid-range versions) | Up to 360 miles | Auto Express |
Auto Express puts the CX-6e’s starting price at about the same as a mid-range Tesla Model Y, Skoda Enyaq or Smart #5. Its verdict is that the Mazda is a slow burn: spacious, refined and well equipped, but lacking some feel and authenticity, and short of class-leading range. What this means for you
Buy the CX-6e if you want a roomy, well-equipped family SUV and like the Mazda badge and the big screen. The Takumi is the sensible trim, as the Takumi Plus mostly adds rear-seat comfort.
If range and price matter most, drive a Kia EV5 and an Enyaq first, since both claim more miles. Ask your dealer for a written delivery date, because the car arrives in late 2026, and do not budget for a grant.
How we test and where our numbers come from
Range figures are official WLTP combined values taken from manufacturer UK specification pages, with real-world estimates drawn from independent comparative testing. Prices are UK list prices at the time of the latest update. Tax, grant and charging-scheme figures come from GOV.UK and HMRC publications. We re-check every guide when pricing, specification or policy changes. Last checked 6 October 2026.
