The Xpeng X9, a seven-seat electric MPV, costs from £74,990 on the road in the UK, rising to £84,990 for the all-wheel-drive version, with customer deliveries due to begin before the end of September 2026 (AM Online). We found no confirmation that deliveries have started. It undercuts the Lexus LM by £22,655 at the entry price and is one of very few electric people carriers on sale here, so it matters if you need seven seats and a quiet, high-end cabin.

What are the three X9 versions and prices?

The X9 comes in three versions, all with an 800V electrical system. Prices are on the road. The X9 is Chinese-built and costs well above the £37,000 ceiling for the Electric Car Grant, so no grant applies.

VersionPriceWLTP range
Standard Range£74,990Up to 332 miles
Long Range£79,990Up to 382 miles
All-wheel drive£84,990Up to 360 miles

The single-motor Standard Range and Long Range have about 316bhp (320PS). The all-wheel-drive model has up to 496bhp and accelerates from 0 to 62mph in under six seconds (Auto Express).

How practical is it?

Seating is an unusual 2+2+3 layout, with electrically adjustable captain’s chairs in the middle row and a traditional bench seat at the back. Boot space is up to 2,554 litres. If you regularly carry six or seven people, that arrangement makes the third row a proper bench rather than two fold-out seats.

How fast does the X9 charge?

The 800V architecture allows DC charging from 10 to 80% in 12 minutes, according to Xpeng. Xpeng UK quotes a peak charge rate above 530kW (537kW Standard Range, 542kW on the others), higher than any UK public charger supplies, so the car will usually be limited by the charger. See our ultra-rapid hubs guide for where to find the fastest units.

How does it compare with other seven-seaters?

Auto Express says the X9 undercuts its main rival, the Lexus LM, which starts at £97,645, a gap of £22,655 to the Standard Range. What Car? has pitched it against the VW ID. Buzz and Kia EV9.

Xpeng X9 Standard Range£74,990AM Online
Kia EV9 GT, seven seats£82,185electrive
Lexus LM£97,645Auto Express

The ID. Buzz is the cheaper route to seven seats and the Kia price is for the GT trim, not the base EV9, so the X9 sits in the middle. It is cheapest against the luxury MPV it is aimed at, though the Lexus LM is a hybrid and the X9 is fully electric. Our seven-seat electric cars guide covers cheaper options, and the Skoda Peaq is a seven-seat alternative.

Who is the X9 for?

At £74,990 or more, the X9 is aimed at buyers who would otherwise look at a luxury MPV or a large electric SUV with a third row. Auto Express headlined its report on the car as “the luxury of a Lexus for £25k less”, though the gap at the entry price is £22,655. The 800V system and the 332 to 382 miles of WLTP range also make it practical for long family trips, provided you plan stops around chargers that can supply high power.

What is the catch?

The price is the main one. At £74,990 the X9 costs £15,445 more than the seven-seat ID. Buzz, and the Long Range adds £5,000 for 50 more miles of WLTP range. The all-wheel-drive version costs £5,000 more again, yet its 360 miles is less than the Long Range, so only buyers who want the 496bhp and the sub-six-second sprint should pay for it. Xpeng is also a newer name in UK showrooms, so check servicing arrangements near you.

Where can you see one?

Xpeng named London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol and Edinburgh as priority markets for dealer expansion in 2026 (AM Online). If you live elsewhere, expect a longer journey to a showroom.

What this means for you

Choose by seat count and budget first. If you want a premium seven-seater and have around £75,000 to spend, the X9 is now a real alternative to a luxury MPV and costs about £22,700 less than the Lexus LM. If you need seven seats on a smaller budget, the ID. Buzz starts £15,445 cheaper. Check the dealer map, ask for a test drive and confirm your delivery slot.
