The Paris Motor Show opens to the press on 12 October and to the public from 13 to 18 October, and this year it is Europe’s main stage for smaller, cheaper electric cars. Several debuts already have UK prices, led by the Audi A2 e-tron from £32,200, while others, including the Citroen 2CV, are concepts with no confirmed British future. Here is how to tell them apart before next week’s wave of reveals.
The 91st Mondial de l’Auto takes place at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. Auto Express says retro design and the return of small cars are the big themes, with Smart, Skoda, Fiat, Citroen and Dacia all back in the city-car class. Stellantis brings nine concept cars and more than 60 vehicles, Renault Group reveals six new models, four of them concepts, and more than a dozen Chinese brands are exhibiting. For UK buyers the useful filter is price: the Electric Car Grant takes up to £3,750 off eligible cars with an RRP of £37,000 or less, although eligibility also depends on where and how a car is built.

Which mainstream EVs are heading for the UK?
The production Smart #2 is due to be revealed on 12 October. The two-seat successor to the Fortwo is expected to have a 35.7kWh LFP battery, charge from 10 to 80% in under 20 minutes and offer about 300km (186 miles) of range, according to Autocar. Smart’s Europe boss has said it could start below €22,500 (electrive), and UK estimates sit around £20,000 for an early 2027 launch, though Smart has not confirmed a price. That puts it up against the Renault Twingo E-Tech, which Renault says will cost under £20,000 with 163 miles of range, and the new Dacia Spring, expected below £18,000 with 155 miles. On paper the Smart goes furthest, but it has only two seats. Our Smart #2 guide has the detail.
Fiat’s Grizzly and Grizzly Fastback, previewed under the GigaPanda name, are due to make their first public appearance. Fiat says the pair are 4.4 and 4.5 metres long with a 600-litre boot, offer petrol, mild hybrid and fully electric versions of up to 145hp, and launch from the final quarter of 2026. Auto Express expects them in the UK as rivals to the Skoda Karoq and Nissan Qashqai.
Stellantis also gives the DS N°7 SUV its first international show outing, with electric versions offering up to 740km (about 460 miles). DS has not given UK timing; the larger N°8 costs from £50,790 here (Autocar). Van buyers can expect Renault Pro+‘s new Trafic E-Tech electric, which leads Renault Group’s electric line-up, and Hyundai’s first all-electric light commercial vehicle.
Which premium EVs at Paris can you already order?
Audi’s headline debut is the A2 e-tron, its new entry-level EV. UK orders open this month from £32,200, with 52, 61 and 84kWh batteries, up to 401 miles and first deliveries in early 2027, WhichEV reports. It is the only premium debut here priced under the grant’s £37,000 cap, though Audi has not said whether it qualifies. Our A2 e-tron price guide covers the trims.
BMW brings the i3 saloon, from £47,925 for the i3 40 xDrive to £57,905 for the First Edition, with UK deliveries from this autumn. It also shows the new-generation X5: the electric iX5 60 xDrive opens for UK orders on 8 October, with production from December (electrive).
Mercedes shows the C-Class Electric, priced from £57,995 to £70,995 with a 94.5kWh battery and 10 to 80% charging in 22 minutes (Electrifying), and the electric GLA, which arrives in November from £45,400 with up to 408 miles (Autocar). The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is the outlier: the top GT 63 has about 1,169hp, and UK prices run from £103,275 for the GT 53 to £159,870 for the GT 63 (Express & Star), with the GT 63 from £159,870.
The spread matters. The A2 e-tron undercuts the cheapest i3 by £15,725, while the i3 and C-Class both sit well above the grant cap.
What are the Chinese brands bringing?
CarNewsChina says BYD has no world premieres. It shows the Dolphin G DM-i, new Atto 3 and Atto 2 DM-i; the Dolphin G is a plug-in hybrid already on sale here from £23,990, with up to 65 miles of electric range (BYD UK).
Leapmotor gives the B03 hatch and D19 range-extender SUV their European premieres alongside the B03X. The B03X reaches UK showrooms in November at £26,995, including Leapmotor’s own £1,500 Leap-Grant discount, with a 53kWh battery and 237 miles (Parkers). The B03 offers up to 242 miles and is expected here in early 2027, price unconfirmed (Autocar). Our Leapmotor B03 story explains where it fits.
Xpeng gives its G9L flagship SUV a global launch on 12 October. Xpeng plans to announce European pricing at the launch, but there is no UK price yet; its UK range already starts with the G6 at £39,990. MG has a full stand, with models not yet confirmed. For the brand’s seven-seat MPV, see our Xpeng X9 UK price report.
Which Paris cars are only concepts?
The Citroen 2CV is due to be revealed on the evening of 11 October, the day before the press day, according to Autocar; other reports say 12 October. The production car is due in 2028 with a target price under €15,000 and will be built at Stellantis’ Pomigliano plant in Italy. Citroen has not confirmed UK sales; our 2CV explainer weighs the odds.
Renault’s E-Space concept previews a future electric Espace MPV. Alpine is due to unveil its PS1 concept on 12 October and show the next-generation A110, which previews say goes all-electric from next year.
Peugeot shows a near-production concept for the next E-208 with an AI assistant and steer-by-wire (Auto Express); today’s E-208 GTi costs £34,995 and is expected to qualify for the £1,500 grant. Vauxhall’s STX concept previews the next Astra estate and is due to be the first car to wear the new Vauxhall badge. Fiat is bringing the Multiplay concept, a cross between an SUV and a pick-up, and Alfa Romeo is due to debut a car called the Cuorerosso.
Should you wait for the Paris cars?
For most buyers, no. The debuts worth planning around are the ones with prices: the A2 e-tron is the interesting premium option at £32,200, and the Leapmotor B03X is in showrooms next month. If you want a small, cheap EV, the Smart #2 and Leapmotor B03 should land in early 2027, so waiting a few months could widen your choice.
Do not put a purchase on hold for the 2CV, E-Space or PS1. None has a UK price or date, and the 2CV is not due until 2028. A grant-eligible car you can order today is a known quantity; a concept is not. Our list of the most anticipated electric cars shows what else is coming, and we will update this guide as the Paris reveals land from 12 October.
