Bentley has launched its first electric car, the Torcal, with UK prices starting at £173,330 and up to 375 miles of WLTP range. It is built in Crewe, and Bentley’s fourth model line is also its most affordable car (Business Today). For UK buyers the interest is how much of the price is Bentley and how much is a platform shared with Porsche.
What is the Bentley Torcal?
The Torcal is a luxury SUV on an 800V platform with a battery of about 113kWh, offered in Core and S variants (Just Auto). The Torcal S produces up to 888PS. The Core produces 821PS. Full production is due to begin at Crewe in 2027, so UK deliveries are unlikely to start before then. Bentley quotes charging at up to 400kW, with 10 to 80 per cent in under 20 minutes.

| WLTP range | Up to 375 miles |

How does it compare with the Porsche Cayenne Electric?
The Cayenne Electric uses a related 800V platform and starts from £83,200 in the UK, with the Cayenne S Electric from £99,900 and the Turbo Electric from £130,900, (Carwow). Carwow’s figures are on-the-road prices, so they are not strictly like-for-like with Bentley’s starting price.
| Bentley Torcal | Porsche Cayenne Electric | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price | £173,330 | £83,200 |
| Battery | About 113kWh | 113kWh |
| Platform | 800V | 800V |
| WLTP range | Up to 375 miles | Up to about 399 miles |
The gap between the entry cars is about £90,000, and even the Cayenne Turbo Electric at £130,900 is well below the Torcal. What the extra money buys is Bentley’s trim, craftsmanship and exclusivity rather than a different battery. If you only want range and performance, the Porsche is the better value on paper.
What does the Torcal’s price tell us about the market?
At £173,330 the Torcal is described as Bentley’s cheapest model, so the entry point for a Bentley is now an electric SUV rather than a petrol or hybrid car. On WLTP figures the Torcal’s 375 miles is slightly below the Cayenne Electric’s reported 399 miles, despite the price gap.
Power is the clearer point. The Cayenne Turbo Electric has up to 1,156PS, more than the Torcal S at up to 888PS, and costs £130,900 against about £200,000 for the loaded Torcal S First Edition. The extra spend is for the badge, the interior and the lower volumes.
What is still unconfirmed?
Several details that matter to UK buyers have not been settled in the coverage we found. A standard Torcal S UK price list and the exact delivery month are not confirmed: reports give Q2 2027 for production or first deliveries, and one says summer 2027. Until then every figure is a manufacturer claim.
Why Bentley is going electric when others pause
Bentley’s launch comes as parts of the luxury market slow their electric plans, which we cover in EV brands winning and losing, the Porsche petrol Macan return and electric sports cars stalling at Polestar and Lotus. The Torcal arrives within a fortnight of Jaguar’s new GT, covered in our Jaguar Type 01 report. Bentley is testing how many wealthy buyers will go electric (Khaleej Times). For other fast EVs on the way, see our guide to electric performance cars coming in 2027.
What this means for you
You cannot take delivery of a Torcal until 2027, so there is time to see real-world range and charging tests. Consider how you would use it: if depreciation matters, read our guide to which cars hold their value first, as a price above £170,000 leaves a lot to lose. If you want a luxury electric SUV now, the Cayenne Electric is already on sale and costs about half as much.
How we test and where our numbers come from
Range figures are official WLTP combined values taken from manufacturer UK specification pages, with real-world estimates drawn from independent comparative testing. Prices are UK list prices at the time of the latest update. Tax, grant and charging-scheme figures come from GOV.UK and HMRC publications. We re-check every guide when pricing, specification or policy changes. Last checked 6 October 2026.
