Budget: Leapmotor B03 and MG2
The B03 is expected to slot into the UK range between Leapmotor’s £16,000 T03 and £29,000 B05, with up to 242 miles WLTP. The MG2 was previewed by the MG GO! concept at Goodwood, and Auto Express expects it to cost around £20,000. Neither price is official. Nissan’s Pixo, a Renault Twingo twin, is expected at about £18,000 with 161 miles of range and early 2027 deliveries; see our Nissan Pixo report.
Both aim at the Renault 5 and the VW ID. Polo, so a price near £20,000 matters more than any headline range. The Renault’s own 2027 update is covered in Renault 5 E-Tech update. For today’s prices see our cheapest new EVs ranking.
Premium: BMW i3 M60, Jaguar Type 01, Bentley Torcal
BMW’s Neue Klasse i3 already costs from £47,925 in 40 xDrive form and from £53,425 as the 50 xDrive. The M60 xDrive is an M Performance version due in 2027 (Electrek); a UK price has not been announced. BMW’s first electric X5, the iX5 60 xDrive, claims up to 525 miles and has European deliveries scheduled from early 2027, with no UK price yet: see BMW iX5 orders and price. Compare the current car in BMW i3 vs Mercedes C-Class Electric.
The Jaguar Type 01 has three motors and more than 1,000PS, with deliveries expected in the first half of 2027. Jaguar’s range target is up to 478 miles WLTP, and the UK price is a press estimate: see Jaguar Type 01 UK price. The Bentley Torcal starts at £173,330 in the UK, produces 821PS in the standard car and up to 888PS in the Torcal S, and offers up to 375 miles WLTP. Full production starts at Crewe in 2027, but reports differ on the first delivery month, so treat Q2 2027 as unconfirmed. Details are in Bentley Torcal UK price.
The Volkswagen ID.Tiguan replaces the ID.4 from early 2027, with first UK deliveries expected in the second quarter and prices still unconfirmed (ID.Tiguan report). The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door EV is already on sale, from £159,870 for the GT 63 with 1,169hp, so it is not a 2027 launch: see Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door EV.
How the 2027 class compares
The year splits into two groups. At the bottom, the Pixo, MG2 and B03 push towards the £20,000 mark, with ranges of 161, up to 258 and up to 242 miles respectively on the figures reported. At the top, the Type 01 and Torcal offer more than 600kW, with prices from about £120,000 upwards. The middle has the BMW i3 at £47,925 to £53,425 with a published UK price, plus the unpriced ID.Tiguan and iX5.
For a family buyer that means 2027 is mostly a budget story. The cheaper models will be judged on the price they land at and the equipment they carry, not on range alone, and none has a confirmed UK price yet.
Xiaomi and later arrivals
Xiaomi starts European sales in Germany in 2027 with the SU7 and YU7, and right-hand-drive markets including the UK follow in 2028. No UK price is announced. Our Xiaomi UK explainer tracks the plan.
Two sporting names will not arrive as EVs. Polestar has put the 6 on ice to focus on the 7 and the next-generation 2, and Lotus’s next supercar, the Type 135, is a hybrid V8 due in 2028. A Citroen 2CV EV is also planned for 2028, outside this tracker: see Citroen 2CV electric.
What it means for buyers
If you want a cheap EV, the 2027 arrivals add competition but not certainty: wait for confirmed UK prices before holding off a purchase, and check whether a car qualifies for the Electric Car Grant. Our guide on whether to buy now or wait sets out the trade-off. Budget cars from China also face tariff questions, covered in EU-built electric cars face 10% UK tariff from January 2027.
