What does each version cost in the UK?
| Version | UK price | Power | 0-62mph |
|---|---|---|---|
| GT 53 | £103,275 | 544bhp | 3.5 seconds |
| GT 55 | £120,095 | Up to 816PS | Not covered here |
| GT 63 | £159,870 | Up to 1,169hp | 2.4 seconds |
Carwow lists the top of the range at £173,870, for the GT 63 Premium Plus, so the £159,870 figure is the entry price for the GT 63. Prices are list prices before options. At more than £100,000 none of the range qualifies for the Electric Car Grant, so these are also the prices after any grant. Sources: Auto Express, Autocar and Carwow.
The GT 53 has two motors, against three on the GT 63, which cuts output to 544bhp from up to 1,169hp and slows the 0-62mph time from 2.4 seconds to 3.5 seconds (the GT 53 figure is quoted with a one-foot rollout) (Autocar). The GT 63 produces up to 860kW, which EV Powered reports as 1,169bhp.
How far will it go and how fast does it charge?
Every version uses a 106kWh liquid-cooled battery on an 800V architecture. Dropping a motor lifts official range from 424 miles in the GT 63 to 503 miles in the GT 53 (Autocar). Mercedes quotes peak DC charging of up to 600kW (Carwow).
Very few UK chargers can deliver that. Most of the network tops out well below 600kW, so on a typical motorway stop the car will charge at the lower of its own limit and the charger’s. Our fastest charging electric cars ranking shows how this class compares with mainstream EVs.
Why does an electric AMG play a V8 sound?
AMG’s answer to the quiet of an EV is an engineered soundtrack. In its FORCE S+ drive mode the GT 63 plays a V8 note based on the AMG GT R, mixed in real time from more than 1,600 sound files (Carscoops). The system also simulates gearshifts and drivetrain interruptions.
The GT 53 takes a different route, using a digitally recreated straight-six sound instead of the V8 (Auto Express).
Whether this is engaging or a gimmick is a matter of taste. It does not change how fast the car is: the performance comes from the motors, and the sound is layered on top. Buyers who want the experience of a combustion AMG will see the point, while those drawn to an EV’s silence may not. We would try it on a test drive before paying for the top version.
How does it compare with rivals?
The closest established rival on power is the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT; we have not independently confirmed its figures here, so check Porsche’s own specification. The British alternative is the Jaguar Type 01, revealed on 6 October with a target of more than 1,000PS, up to 478 miles of WLTP range and an expected UK price of about £120,000 or more. That car is expected to reach UK buyers in the first half of 2027, so the AMG is the one you can order now. Read our Jaguar Type 01 report for the full figures.
| AMG GT 63 | Jaguar Type 01 (target) | |
|---|---|---|
| Power | Up to 1,169hp | More than 1,000PS |
| Range | 424 miles | Up to 478 miles |
| UK price | From £159,870 | About £120,000 to £150,000+ (estimate) |
| UK availability | On sale | First half of 2027 expected |

What this means for you
If you want the spectacle, the GT 63 at £159,870 is the car to try, but it costs £56,595 more than the GT 53. For most drivers the GT 53 at £103,275 is the sensible choice: it has the longest official range at 503 miles and a 0-62mph time of 3.5 seconds, which is still very quick.
Check the sound setting on a test drive and ask your dealer for a charging demonstration, because 600kW is a ceiling, not a typical session. If you are company-car minded, a car at this price carries a high benefit-in-kind value, so check the tax cost before ordering.
How we test and where our numbers come from
Range figures are official WLTP combined values taken from manufacturer UK specification pages, with real-world estimates drawn from independent comparative testing. Prices are UK list prices at the time of the latest update. Tax, grant and charging-scheme figures come from GOV.UK and HMRC publications. We re-check every guide when pricing, specification or policy changes. Last checked 6 October 2026.
