The Geely EX2 goes on sale in Britain from £20,990 on the road, with a larger-battery version offering up to 214 miles of WLTP range from £23,490. Geely registered 5,155 cars in September 2026, its biggest month so far, for a 1.47% market share. For a UK driver shopping for a small electric car, the EX2 adds a third Chinese-built option to a price band that Dacia, BYD and Renault have been fighting over.

Geely EX2 UK prices and trims

Geely announced UK pricing on 16 July 2026 (Geely Auto UK Media). The car is sold in China as the Xingyuan, where it was the best-selling car of 2025 (CAR Magazine). Prices are quoted on the road, and the EX2 is not eligible for the Electric Car Grant, according to Which?.

TrimPrice (OTR)BatteryMotorWLTP range
Pro£20,99035kWh60kWUp to 155 miles
Max£23,49047kWh85kWUp to 214 miles
Ultra£25,49047kWh85kWUp to 214 miles

Specifications are from electrive. The Ultra adds two-tone paint, a 360-degree camera, heated front seats and steering wheel, wireless phone charging and a powered tailgate (What Car?).

Which battery should you pick?

The £2,500 step from Pro to Max buys 12kWh more battery, 25kW more power and 59 extra miles of claimed range. For most buyers that is the sensible choice. A 155-mile WLTP figure usually means well under that on a motorway in winter, so the Pro suits a second car that rarely leaves town. The Max gives enough margin for a weekly longer run without a daily charging plan. Our guide to how to choose between small EVs on a budget covers what to ask of a short-range car.

How the EX2 compares with its rivals

CarStarting UK priceNote
Dacia SpringBelow £12,000After a July 2026 price cut (electrive)
Geely EX2 Pro£20,990155 miles, no grant
Renault 5£21,495Evolution, 40kWh, 192 miles, includes grant
Renault 5 Techno+£23,94552kWh, 252 miles, includes full £3,750 grant

The BYD Dolphin Surf also starts below the EX2 Pro, but sources we checked disagreed on its exact entry price, so we have not quoted one. Rival prices may have moved since; see our Dacia Spring price report and Renault 5 update for the latest.

On list price the EX2 is not the cheapest. The Pro undercuts the entry Renault 5 by £505 but with 37 miles less claimed range. The Max at £23,490 is almost level with the Renault 5 Techno+ at £23,945, which claims 252 miles, and the Renault price already includes the grant.

How fast is Geely growing in the UK?

Geely only entered the UK in October 2025. It passed 10,000 cumulative UK sales 11 months after launch, having registered 1,085 cars in August and 9,245 from January to August (China EV Home). September then brought 5,155 registrations and a 1.47% share, according to SMMT data in a market of 350,518 cars. The EX2 went on sale in late August, so September was its first full month on sale.

That jump fits a wider pattern. Chinese brands took 23% of UK registrations in September, and we cover the detail in our Chinese brands market share report and the September EV sales record. Geely’s line-up now spans the EX5 electric SUV, the Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid and the EX2. For background on the brands, see who the Chinese EV brands are.

How safe is the EX2?

Euro NCAP, which lists the car as the Geely E2, awarded five stars under its 2026 protocol in results published on 2 September 2026. It scored 86% for crash protection, 72% for crash avoidance, 79% for safe driving and 95% for post-crash safety, but flagged inconsistent automatic emergency braking and pedal intrusion. Details are in our Euro NCAP report.

What this means for you

If you want a small electric car for under £25,000 and range matters, test the EX2 Max alongside the BYD Dolphin Surf and Renault 5. The EX2 gets no Electric Car Grant, while rivals such as the Renault 5 quote prices including it, so compare like with like. Check eligible models before you sign.

The Pro is only worth it if your daily mileage is low and the price gap to the Max is the deciding factor. Geely is a new brand here, so also ask about dealer coverage and servicing in your area before ordering.

How we test and where our numbers come from

Range figures are official WLTP combined values taken from manufacturer UK specification pages, with real-world estimates drawn from independent comparative testing. Prices are UK list prices at the time of the latest update. Tax, grant and charging-scheme figures come from GOV.UK and HMRC publications. We re-check every guide when pricing, specification or policy changes. Last checked 6 October 2026.
